GOD'S GARDENS
TRAGEDY IN THE GARDEN OF GOD In the Bible we read of a garden that God made in Eden one day; It was given to the first couple...a place for them to live, work and play. God would come walk with them in the evening...His very personal stay; And His presence gave them fellowship and blessing each step of the way. There was a serpent in that garden...a sorry snake on the ground With a plan to kill and destroy, who wrought the plan he had found. He lured Eve to go for his poison...to drink from the glass in his hand; She then got her husband to come and play in Satan's vile band. The door to that garden was locked, and the gate was shut to all. Entrance from that day on was denied...the result of Adam's sad fall. The tree of life was lifted, and made safe to the devil's slimy crawl, And the way to God was blocked until Jesus drank sin's bitter gall. TEARS IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE Many years then rolled by...God allowed Satan to ply his trade, Then a decision by the heavenly Father was lovingly made As He saw all the hurt and havoc that the devil had played... God's great heart sent His Son to die, and the sin-debt was paid. Oh, what a scene in the dark of old Gethsemane one fateful night As Jesus went farther and farther in the waning twilight, He poured out His soul in what seemed to be bad fright, But He was aligning His will with the Father's to make thing right. With His soul sagging under the load of your sins and of mine, And His praying to the Father to help get His heart into line... Jesus shed His tears and bloody sweat till the Father said, "Fine!" While Satan was preparing a feast for his vultures to sit and dine. TOMB IN THE GARDEN OF GOLGOTHA Roman soldiers beat their spittle into the Lord's lovely face... Crowned Him with thorns...shredded His back until it was like lace... Nailed Him to a cross that held a scornful sign intended to disgrace As He shed His precious blood, our vile and terrible sins to erase. Loving hands took His dead body from the grip of death's womb And gently laid Him in the cold bed of a friend's borrowed tomb... Rolled a huge stone into the door, shutting in the night's gloom Yet Jesus knew well He would soon leave death's darkened room. If all the hewn stones of earth's quarries were on His grave that day... If all the soldiers ever in uniform had been standing in battle array... If all of time's governors had issued decrees that Jesus must ever stay, He would have come from the tomb...death was conquered that day! TREE OF LIFE IN THE GARDEN OF GLORY From garden to garden we have come through the story of grace, And saved by faith in Jesus, we shall live in heaven's bright place When we have finished running with the saints in life's short race... We'll bow at His feet, finally getting to look into His loving face. The tree of life will be crowned in its fullest forever-bloom, And never again will we feel the sting of death's chill and gloom. The saved of all ages will live eternally on God's golden strand In a brand-new Heaven and a brand-new glory land. Before I close this message, written in the form of a love-poem, I'd like you to meet my Savior, and come to trust Him. Please let Him be your Savior and your loving Lord, That you may enjoy God's Garden of Glory-and eternal reward. - C. M. Lewallen |
