THE PARABLE OF THE FAITHFUL AND UNFAITHFUL STEWARD:
A STRONG WARNING - BE PREPARED

Luke 12:35-48

(Matthew 24:37-25:30)

  1. The charge: Be watching - be ready for the Lord's return (v.35-40)
  • Because the Lord is returning (v.36)
  • Because you shall be served by Christ Himself (v.37)
  • Because you shall be blessed (v.38)
  • Because Christ shall come suddenly, unexpectedly (v.39)
  • Because Christ shall come when least expected (v.40)
  1. The parable of the steward (manager) (v.41-48)
  • Peter's question (v.41)
  • There is a faithful and wise steward (v.42-44)
  • He is a steward (v.42)
  • He is a servant (v.43a)
  • He is found "doing": Serving faithfully (v.43b)
  • He is to be rewarded: Made a ruler (v.44)
  • There is an unfaithful and unwise steward (manager) (v.45-46)
  1. He says there is "plenty of time" (v.45a)
  • He does his own will, his own thing (v.45b)
  • He is to be judged with the unbelievers (v.46)
  • There is the unfaithful steward identified (v.47-48)
  • The 1st class of unfaithful stewards: Sinned deliberately - knew the Lord's will (v.47)
  • The 2nd class of unfaithful stewards: Sinned in ignorance - did not know the Lord's will (v.48a)
  • The principle of judgment: Having much requires giving much (v.48b)

Note: Hypocrites and unbelievers who are alive when Jesus comes will go right on living, and will experience the terrible time of tribulation that will be between the Reception coming and the Revelation coming. The outer darkness and time of trouble will be 7 years long. Do some serious meditation.
